Why set up a website to host a newsletter that you send out weekly?
Several reasons: First, it allows us to post additional content without spamming inboxes. Second, emails like newsletters often show up as spam and are sent to junk or blocked altogether. This allows folks to come to our site at whatever interval works for them and ‘catch up’ on recent articles. Third, it allows us to maintain control of content and have legal items such as a Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Why do I need to subscribe if most of the content is free?
Subscribing helps our newsletter (and site) grow. Larger audiences attract better content, guest authors, product reviews. It gets us noticed more. It only requires a verified email address, which we’ll never use for anything else or sell to anyone.
There are additional articles and other content available to Free Subscribers, which isn’t viewable to site visitors.
I already subscribe to this newsletter on LinkedIn. What’s the difference?
While our focus is now here, we still plan to continue a weekly article on LinkedIn. It will essentially be the same topic as the free newsletter here, just a couple days later and perhaps shortened in length if need be. Obviously our preference is to see folks subscribed here, but we are happy to see you either way. LinkedIn doesn’t allow us to move the subscriber list.
It is important to note that all of the additional content (free or paid) will only appear on this site.
I noticed an error in an article or something stated incorrectly. Should I say something?
Yes! Please bring it to our attention if you see something wrong. While we review as much as we can, we are only human. Spelling errors, incorrect data, or a statement that you know is wrong - please let us know. I’d rather fix it than leave it up for all to see. This also includes anything with the site that doesn’t seem to be working correctly.
I’d like to be a guest author, or I have some content that is worth sharing?
Please contact us. We’d love to hear about it and possibly feature it somewhere. Please note that content that originates outside of RCS can only be used as part of our free content. Full credit is always given.
Do I really need to log in if I’m already subscribed?
That’s your preference. Visitors (or subscribers not logged in) will still have access to the recent newsletter and a small archive of previous releases. Logging in gains access to additional content (articles not released), the full archive of newsletters, and anything else we’ve happened to post. Usually the log in will ‘stick’ for a while on a device, so it isn’t needed each time you visit.
The link contained in any newsletter email from this site will automatically log you in (unless your privacy settings prevent this).
Why would I consider a paid subscriber account?
This gains access to our premium content. Paid subscribers are supporting our time and effort, so we will reserve some items behind a paywall. This may include product reviews, case studies, teaching materials, deep dives, and content requests. Some articles will only appear in the premium content if they took considerable effort to create.
When is new content added? Can you notify me?
We maintain the newsletter on a weekly basis (approximately). Other content appears sporadically, but regularly. If you haven’t noticed a change in a week or two - please check in on us. While it’s possible to set up a notification when new content is uploaded, we are maintaining our stance on not using email addresses for anything else once someone decides to subscribe. I’d rather keep it that way.
What is the audio option? Can you listen to the articles online? Who’s reading them?
This is an option that was available on our web platform that we chose to turn on. It’s an AI bot that essentially ‘reads’ an article to you. Although it gets things comically wrong at times, it could be useful in certain situations (like driving). I looked into actually reading the articles myself - but then we’re flirting with being closer to a podcast. One thing at at time…
